On multiple occasions I've had friends say, "Comparison is the thief of joy." It's so easy to appreciate the thoughtfulness and then move on to my searches and lists of brokers. Ultimately, I'm excited about the next few seasons in the city in my new place, with new roommates. I've learned that even when you think it's all together, you have to constantly come to the Lord in prayer because thieves easily sneak up and grab a hold of thoughts and emotions.

From this and other conversations at work and with friends, I've come to terms with the fact that I can only learn by asking questions and listening to responses. But it also has to be thoughtful and appropriate depending on time and surroundings. That doesn't mean to skirt around the bushes but to exercise discernment and issue respect. That's what I'm praying for today, and I hope you'll join me.

Little did a know that I would meet so many wonderful friends over the next few months. So this year, I wasn't along with strangers; I was with folks that had been a part of the #drewinthecity journey as it grew and developed. It's a wonderful feeling when something comes around again, and you're able to reflect on the things felt when you experienced it before and compare them to the feelings felt the second time around. While July 4th isn't the anniversary of my moving to the city, it sure is a great way to celebrate it in style.
