This week, I'm on vacation with my family. We traveled to Hawaii, so my dad could attend an annual meeting with some colleagues from around the country.
It's in a different state each year. We don't always join him, but we definitely weren't going to miss this one, ha!
We're about halfway through the trip, and I must say that it's been a much needed getaway for me. I'll be sure to share more photos next week (or the next); but for now, I wanted to extend a simple "Aloha!" to y'all.
Aloha is "the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy, that is commonly used as a simple greeting." I love words and their meanings, and I really like how much joy is packed into this one.
Every time we leave the hotel or walk into a store or simply encounter a friendly face, this word is shared. It's refreshing and certainly not the norm back home in New York.
I'm headed down to the beach now, so I'll leave you with a few learnings from the trip so far: 1) Don't rush through quality time with loved ones, 2) Breathe deeply, 3) Keep your head up to see all the Lord has made, and 4) Extend "Aloha!" greetings generously!
