Photo Session #1: Steven, Jordan, Mackenzie, & Haley

I have a deep desire to be connected to the visual arts. In fact, I completed The Birkman Signature Report last month, which scored me at 97% when it comes to interests in the space. (To contrast, I scored 2% Scientific.)

While I enjoy a wide range of media, I find myself most drawn to photography.

I took my first photography class in the 10th grade. At the end of the semester, we were able to submit one of our works for consideration in the school's annual competition. I was honored to receive the 3rd Place prize.

I recognize that's a pretty small accomplishment compared to other awards programs, but it still affirmed my budding interest in a monumental way.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to take photos for my university's yearbook, "second shoot" for a friend's engagement portraits, and create content for bloggers and brands in New York. These are now all wonderful memories that have led me to this point in my artistic journey.

The Road Ahead

I mentioned in my last post a little bit about my renewed vision for this website. Well, here is the first installment of that.

A few Saturdays ago, four of my friends graciously let me practice some of my photography skills on them. We spent about two hours roaming around Lincoln Center, which proved to be an enjoyable experience. I learned a lot, and I'm excited to keep the learning process going.

If you're a photographer and would be willing to critique my work, please drop your thoughts in the comments below or send me an email. I quickly noticed a few things during edits that I'll be more mindful of next time, but I'd love to get additional thoughts from others.
